This look began with the skirt. I am always on a look out for that perfect one because it is hard to find a good fit for my wide hips and narrow waist. This YSL creation offers a tulip shape that does a great job highlighting the mid-section while beautifully draping that lovely cushion part as well ;) The skirt also shows off the legs in a subtle yet sexy way. To make them look even more attractive, I added the high heeled Tribute sandals in red. I like this season's trend for mixing different shades of a color in one look. Back when I was kid, I liked to paint landscapes because my favorite color to work with was green. Here, I mixed not only the shades, but also textures. I love the Balmain tweed biker jacket for its sharp contrast with the delicate silk skirt and the red strippy shirt. The Marc by Marc Jacobs bag in a dark olive offers another shade of green and matches the deep tones of the sandals. The only thing this look needs to be finished is a few simple bangles like the flat hammered gold set offered by Rebecca Norman.

Welcome back, Denim!

Mon, 01/11/2010 - 11:06PM by normalperson 0 Comments - 7 Views
I am grad to see denim coming back to the fashion world this season. Here are some ideas about incorporating it back into your wardrobe. I particulry like the denim petal top from 7 of All Mankind because it is simple, yet has some fashionable details to it. Since denim on denim is acceptable again, it can easily be paired with skinny or straight jeans and a strippy or cranberry-colored jacket. To make the look somewhat more laid-back, add flat sandals, like the birdcage creations by one of my favorite shoe labels, Cynthia Vincent. I also love the flower ring from Max & Chloe for its intricate disign that will give you that little something to complete your look.

Not feeling the black anymore...

Sat, 01/09/2010 - 12:57PM by normalperson 0 Comments - 10 Views
I was happy to see that for this spring, the New York Fashion Week brought us some lighter colors. Recession-inspired darkness, which had spread through the fashion world last fall, is finally starting to fade. Not sure about you, but I am happy to see it go, giving room for new and better beginning. Instead of jumping right into bold colors I want to take it slow for this spring with pastels and beiges that will replace the blacks and the grays. There is no better accessory to wear with these light colors than a red pout complimented by long lashes and sculpted brows (as seen in Dolce & Gabbana runway collection)

My moto (borrowed from the classics)

“I love luxury. And luxury lies not in richness and ornateness but in the absence of vulgarity. Vulgarity is the ugliest word in our language. I stay in the game to fight it.”

Every girl should have a hat..

Tue, 01/05/2010 - 12:03AM by normalperson 0 Comments - 9 Views

Every girl should have a hat.

Maybe even a couple of hats.

Why? Because a hat is a great excuse to act silly, an inconspicous way to hide your face or a bad hair day, and ultimately a way to drag attention to yourself to stand out in a crowd.

My hat is red.

I sort of fell into the color when I was shopping for my beach gear for a trip to Los Cabos a few years ago. I found a cute Tommy Hilfigher bikini in Century 21 and than saw a hat to go with it. Not that I needed the hat, but something tempted me to buy it.

When we got to the airport the day of our departure, we were late a missed the check in by one minute!!! The gate was closed and our flight was rebooked for the following morning. I was devastated, but when we finally landed in Mexico the next day, the blazing sun forced me to put my hat on and than it hit me - I'm on vacation! Everything went perfect after that.

The hat had followed me since.

A year later, I wore a little black dress from H&M to a wedding, accessoriezed with loud blood-red Pour La Victoire pumps with invered heels and a matching clutch. I was stressed out about going to a wedding because my fiance and I were having a hard time planning our event. I was looking at myself in the mirror, all dressed up, and I just kept thinking - "something is missing here!" Than it came to me again! I took out my red hat and just couldn't stop laughing at my reflection. I didn't wear it to the wedding, but I did take a few pictures (It was just too good to pass up ;)

So there we have it. My hat is red.

You are yet to find yours.
